We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ronald C. White to discuss his recent book American Ulysses: A Life of Ulysses S. Grant, a New York Times best seller this year.  Dr. White will speak about the book, including his extensive research that included several locations in St. Louis area.   The presentation will discuss his Presidency and the Civil War and also shed light on Grant’s passion in defending equal rights in the post-Civil War America.   The presentation will be followed by a book signing.

 

RONALD C. WHITE is the author of two New York Times bestselling biographies:   American Ulysses: A Life of Ulysses S. Grant, which won the 2017 William Henry Seward Award for Excellence in Civil War Biography and of which General David H. Petraeus (Ret.) wrote, “Certain to be recognized as the classic work on Ulysses S. Grant,” and A: Lincoln: A Biography, of which USA Today said, “If you read one book about Lincoln, make it A. Lincoln.” White also authored Lincoln’s Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural, a New York Times Notable Book, and The Eloquent President: A Portrait of Lincoln Through His Words, a Los Angeles Times bestseller. He is currently working on a biography of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, the hero of Gettysburg’s Little Round Top, four-term Governor of Maine, and President of Bowdoin College.
