Joshua Severit is a native of both Madison and St. Clair County, Illinois. Before joining the firm, Mr. Severit spent six years with a major Madison County defense litigation firm. There he successfully defended a variety of litigated claims in the areas of general liability, contract, personal injury, premises liability, products liability, insurance coverage, commercial trucking and toxic tort. He gained substantial first chair jury, bench trial, and arbitration experience, personally trying over eight cases to jury verdict in less than six years. Mr. Severit joined Kurowski Shultz, LLC in July, 2016.

While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition on two separate occasions. During the 2010 Competition, Mr. Severit’s team advanced to the final round in the Brooklyn, New York regional where he received a best oralist award. For his outstanding participation and performance as a student advocate, Mr. Severit was inducted into the National Order of Barristers in 2010.

Mr. Severit is a member of the Illinois State and Madison County Bar Associations. He is licensed to practice in Illinois. Aside from work, Mr. Severit is an active national competitor in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
